WE’RE BRINGING THE BEST SHOWS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN TO NYC THIS FALL

“If you’re a Jim Henson buff, this show is not to be missed” (Time Out).  Brian Henson’s Puppet Up!, the world-renowned stage show, beloved by comedy fans at Edinburgh Fringe and San Francisco's Sketch Fest Comedy Festival, combines “the magic of first-rate Henson-style puppetry and the ribald joy of comedy” (San Francisco Chronicle).  Dozens of Henson puppets are brought to life by a cast of world-class puppeteers and comedians from The Jim Henson Company that sing, dance, and improvise throughout this night of outrageous improv and sketch comedy for adults.

Created by legendary puppeteer and award-winning director Brian Henson (Muppet Christmas Carol, Labyrinth) and director-host Patrick Bristow (The Groundlings, Ellen, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Whose Line Is It Anyway?), Puppet Up! is an elaborate, over-the-top theatrical production complete with lights, special effects, sound, and music.  “You cannot imagine the mayhem that erupts when an uninhibited house takes its cues from the gifted lunatics onstage.” (Los Angeles Times).  “Top 10 Best Stage Shows. Grade A.”  (Entertainment Weekly)

For adults 16+ only.

Since 2012, The Dark Room has been at the forefront of interactive comedy, fusing improv, stand-up, crowd work and gaming into a legendary, deranged Live-Action Videogame performed around the world!

Now The Dark Room makes its NYC debut September 9 – 12 at Asylum NYC.

The format is simple: You’re trapped in a videogame! Players pick options off a screen and try not to die! If they win, they get money! If they fail, they die and win terrible prizes! At the end, everybody plays together! Hosted by improv comedy overlord Mr. John Robertson, The Dark Room is a high-octane cult experience that gets the whole crowd laughing and chanting along.

“An hilarious, sadistic, participatory cult classic” – Neil Patrick Harris

“NOT TO BE MISSED” – The Guardian

“A Rocky Horror for nerds… reader, I howled” – The Telegraph

Voted as one of the 50 funniest comedians of the 21st century by The Telegraph , Elf Lyons makes her New York stage debut with show The Woman on The Edge playing at The SoHo Playhouse  (15 Vandam Street) from September 24th until October 18th.

In the show, Elf presents a completely normal, autobiographical (and in no way complex) stand-up show about love, blending her distinctive theatrical style with sharp comedic instincts as it leans into the absurd, the emotional and the unpredictable. Inspired by the collapse of Elf’s engagement, The Woman on the Edge finds her unable to perform the show herself; in her absence, one of her characters performs it on her behalf.

With nods to Vertigo, Apollo 13 and the opera Pagliacci, Elf creates a multi-genre work that crosses between the boundaries of comedy, theatre and live art. Expect a collision of forms as opera, stand-up, character and verbatim theatre sit side by side alongside audio recordings, bouncy castles and a fragmented mind that won’t stay in one place.

“The hilariously huge chandelier of her intelligence spangles the ballroom of human folly.  Impossible to forget - and impossible to recall without smiling.  Funnier than the funniest thing you’ve ever seen. Live a little and go see.”

Dylan Moran (Black Books)

"Elf always has me laughing one moment and crying the next and then laughing again. The prettiest idiot in the whole world. If anyone knows how to edge... It's Elf Lyons"

Natalie Palamides (Weer, Nate)

‘Elf Lyons is an incredible performer, and it is always a transformative experience to spend an hour in her world.’

Hannah Gadsby

“Elf Lyons is to comedy what Vlad the Impaler was to impaling - both work with pizzazz!”

Suzy Eddie Izzard

“Saw Elf Lyons - A show that I still can’t get out of my head.  The craft, the artistry, the talent of that woman.  It is a must see.  I hate one person shows, so I’m a tough audience.  Elf Lyons left me gob-smacked.  I had to wait around after to tell her.  She’s unbelievable”
